Brandon Shuff Wins Inaugural National Championship Series 8 Ball Championship
The inaugural National Championship Series 8 Ball Championship has come and gone and many competed for the top prize and first place title. But there could only be one winner and Brandon Shuff was able to hold on and take the victory. The Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas played host to the first ever event.Shuff did not start the tournament off well. He suffered a first round loss which moved him over to the one loss side. But Shuff dominated from that point on and became one of six to return for the final day of play.
During Shuff’s first match of final play he was up against Reggie Cutler who he beat in a hill-hill battle and then he faced Walter Glass who he also beat 8-4. In the semis Shuff faced Austin Murphy who missed a few shots which allowed Shuff to take the match 8-4 and move to the finals.
Jui-Lung Chen was Shuff’s opponent in the finals and the match was extended to the best of thirteen. Both had played well all week during the tournament but when the finals began both were missing shots. The two remained tied or one up during the competition finals but Shuff managed to pull ahead and take the win 13-11.
For his efforts Shuff won $2,700 and $3,000 in expenses to the World 8-Ball Championship which is set to take place this April.
