Dennis Hatch Wins Joss Northeast 9 Ball Tour Stop
Hippo’s House of Billiards was the host for a stop on the Joss Northeast 9 Ball Tour. The event took place on November 8th and 9th and was a $1,500 added event. In the future the event will be called the Al Conte Memorial. Al Conte was a table installer for over 30 years and he passed away on October 20th. Conte’s son, Victor Conte is the owner of Hippo’s House of Billiards. Dennis Hatch, Bucky Souvanthong, Jose Mendez and Greg Antonakos were the four players on the winner’s side in the final four of the tournament. Hatch bested Mendez 9-5 and moved on to the hot seat to face Antonakos. Souvanthong lost to Antonakos 9-4. Hatch was down in the beginning but caught back up and beat Antonkanos in a hill-hill.
Dave Grau and Gary Empey made it to the quarterfinals and faced each other. Both beat Souvanthong and Mendez were beat by Grau and Empey respectively and were in a tie for fifth place. Grau was victorious and moved on to the semifinals to face Antonakos.
Grau defeated Antonkaos and moved on to face Hatch in the final. Both would tie it up in the first two racks and Hatch eventually gained the lead. Hatch would go on and defeat Grau 9-3.
