Horace Goodwin Wins Great Southern Billiard Tour Stop
The Great Southern Billiard Tour made its way to The Pool Room in Duluth, Georgia this past weekend for a $1,500 added A/B event. The tournament drew a field of fifty six competitors and it was Horace Goodwin who outlasted the field and took the first place win.Goodwin beat Sean Davis 9-4 to meet David Rice in the hot seat match. Rice had just beat Matt Reed 9-3 so both were fresh from a win. Goodwin kept up his streak though and bested Rice 9-6 sending him to the west side.
Robert Frost did well on the one loss side to beat Arlo Walsman 9-4 but was defeated by Chris Davis 9-2. Benny Conway Jr. defeated several players before meeting Davis in the quarterfinals. Conway was the victor and he moved on to the semis to face Rice. Rice defeated Conway and was back to face Goodwin in the finals.
Goodwin kicked off the finals strong but Rice would stay right behind him. The two would go back and forth with the lead before Goodwin sealed the deal and took the win from Rice.
