Johnny Archer Wins Turning Stone Classic XI
The Turning Stone Classic XI took place in Verona, New York at the Turning Stone Casino. One hundred and twenty eight players showed up to play in the $25,000 added nine ball event, but Johnny Archer made the most of the tournament and held on to the title. Archer won the event previously in February. After four days of play the final four were ready to fight for the win. Raj Hundal made it to the final four by beating Francisco Bustamante with a score of 9-4 and then moved on to play Charlie Williams. Williams had bested Jeremy Jones with a score of 9-6.
Shane Van Boening eliminated Steve Moore with a score of 9-3 and then moved in to play Bustamante. Van Boening could not keep up with Bustamante, who bested him with at 9-6 score. Johnny Archer was very busy throughout the tournament. Archer eliminated several players and was set to play Bustamante in the quarter finals. Although it was a tough match, Archer managed to hold on, and take the win.
Williams beat Hundal, sending Hundal to face Archer. Things began looking bad for Archer when Hundal moved forward with an 8-2 lead, but Archer got hot and ran the racks coming back to an 8-7 score. Hundal was then faced with a shot on the four but scratched, giving Archer the opportunity to run the table and that is exactly what he did.
Archer and Williams would play each other in the final match. Archer had a great game. Archer was able to pocket balls on the break and then run the table. Archer won the final match 13-6.
