Sal Lanuto Wins Tri-State Tour New Jersey
Thirty players came out to play in the Tri-State Tour stop in Edison, New Jersey. The tournament was held at Sandcastle Billiards on September 27th and Sal Lanuto was able to stay undefeated in the tournament and win first place.On the winner’s side, the final four players were Sal Lanuto, Gary Murgia, Amy Triolo and Jason Egeln. Lanuto sent Murgia to the one-loss side with a 7-2 victory while Triolo beat Egeln 7-5. Lanuto and Triolo would then meet in the hot seat match, but Triolo was no match as Lanuto was on fire, winning 7-3.
On the one-loss side, Phil Carr made it to the final eight by defeating Angelo Fiorino 7-2 and Ted Lubis 7-5. Carr then would face Egeln after he was sent over by Triolo. Carr defeated Egeln 7-5 while Murgia took down George Osipovich 7-2. Carr then would play against Murgia and take an early lead. Murgia would come back and tie Carr 4-4. Murgia then went ahead by two games to reach the hill first. Carr then went double hill but lost to Murgia 7-6.
Murgia and Triolo would then face each other in the semifinals. Triolo came in with a 4-0 lead and won two games but Murgia would win 9-6. Murgia and Lanuto would face in the final match and Lanuto would gain an early lead with two games before Murgia would tie it up. The tie would move up to 5-5 until Lanuto made his move and won 7-5.
