Visa Issues Cause Delays in Scheduled Asian Billiards EventsAs with any sports event, there will be tournaments and scheduled events taking place on an international level. Top level pros of any sport must travel some distance, even internationally to be able to take their game to the next level. With international game play, the players must have a visa or passport to be able to visit the country to compete.
Just recently, several cue sporting events were postponed due to visa issues. Organizers stated that three events, including an Asian Billiards Championship event, were to be rescheduled because of visa events. These events were supposed to start on the 4th of the month in April and continue to take place for several weeks after.
Chandigarh was supposed to host the Asian Billiards Championships as well as the U-21 Snooker Championships and more but the events have now been postponed. A press release was passed out by the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India on the postponing, which read:
"Due to forthcoming elections and time constraints, which did not permit us to ensure visas to players, in time for all participating countries, BSFI regretfully announces the postponement of Asian Under 21 Snooker and Asian Billiards and the Asian Grand Prix scheduled to be held at Chandigarh from 4th to 14th April. Fresh dates will be announced by April end.”
This is an instance that sometimes cannot be avoided. However, organizers must plan and be ready to plan events with dates that give international players plenty of time to prep for travel. With preparation, players will be able to have their visas and passports ready for travel. Hopefully the schedule will get back on track and pros as well as fans will be able to attend the many billiards and snooker events.
