It was recently announced that the 2009 World Professional Billiards Championship will be hosted by the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. The event will take place from September 2nd through the 6th 2009.

All billiard members of the WPBSA can compete in the event and entry packs have been released. Non members who would like to compete in the event must join the WPBSA as a member, and then they will be eligible. Players have until August 14th to register for the Championship event.

Those who wish to watch the championship event can view it for free from September 2nd to the 4th. On the 5th of September there will be a charge of £5 and on the 6th spectators will be charged £10. Tickets to the championships can be purchased at the Northern Snooker Centre.

Last year billiards legend Mike Russell won the title for the ninth time after defeating Geet Sethi of India in the final. The event was held at the Northern Snooker Centre last year and hopes to continue the excitement this year.
