Matchroom Sport recently announced that details for the 2010 PartyPoker World Pool Masters. The tournament is set to take place in May from the 12th to the 16th at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year the invitational event has seen some major changes that should make the tournament even more popular.

For seventeen years the event only held sixteen players. This year the field will be expanded to sixty four players and it will take place over five days instead of the usual three. The Masters takes place during the annual BCA National 8-Ball Championships and thousands of players and fans come to the event.

The lineup of players will consist of thirty two international stars as well as thirty two qualifiers who have earned their spot by winning events around the world up until the event in May. Barry Hearn the Matchroom Sport Chairman commented:

“I am very excited about the future of the Masters. It did very well and was very prestigious as a 16 player invitational but now is the time to take the event to another level and then beyond. We’ve increased the field to 64 with the aim of having qualifying tournaments all over the world and that is the model the Masters will follow now and in years to come.”
